BOXIN’ DAY SCOTTISH CUP GLORY

It wiz Boxin’ Day o’ Twinty Twinty
The Turkey an’ Trifle scoffed the day afore
Scottish Cup day at Kynoch Park
Fit happened wint doon in Keith FC Folklore

Hill o’ Beath Hawthorn drove up the road
Lookin’ tae knock us oot
They werena’ gaun tae be a pushower
O’ that there is nae doot

The lads were fu’ o’ vim an’ vigour
Efter twelve meenits opened the scorin’
Cammy Keith – Fa’ Else! Clippit the ba’ hame
This game wizna’ gaun tae be borin’

Ach! - We werena’ in front for lang
Their free kick hit the back o’ oor net
Five meenits efter we’d gone aheed
An’ thocht we were a’ bit set

Warse wiz tae folly – wid ye believe it
They wint an’ nabbit anither
The veesitors were lookin’ gey sprightly
We’d hae tae pull wirsels thegither

The boys gaed in at half-time
Listened tae the Gospel accordin’ tae Tommy an’ Andy
The wirds o’ wisdom they spoke
Wid surely come in affa handy

We kickit aff the second forty five
Simmo’s saves kept us in the game
If he hidna’ been on his taes
Weel – The result michtna’ been the same

Time for some subbies we thocht
Craig Macaskill steppit intae the fray
Scottie Gray then made an appearance
An’ they baith hid mair than their say

Young Scottie darted quickly in
Tae nab oor Ton in the Scottish Cup
That made the score a’ square
Things were beginnin’ tae look up

We gaed intae extra-time
Took a firm grip o’ the game
As we pushed on an’ on
They were beginnin’ tae look a bit lame

Twa goals in a meenit stunned the veesitors
Wee Craigie’s corner landed richt in the net
“Selfie” then pounced an’ slammed hame
Did their heeds go doon?  - You Bet!

The comeback it wiz complete
Sittin’ in the Stand we loupit up an’ doon
Fin the Referee blew his peeper
That wiz us intae the Second Roon’!!

WEEL DEEN – THE MIGHTY MAROONS!
