Keith 1 v Fraserburgh 3

MAROONS EXIT IN WINTRY CONDITIONS

Keith exited the Morrison Motors Aberdeenshire District Shield at a wintry Kynoch Park on Wednesday night.  Sub zero temperatures heralded over 100 hardy souls as they trooped through the turnstiles, and were faced with a snow storm half an hour prior to kick off, abating a few minutes after kick off.

The Maroons shocked title challengers Fraserburgh by opening the scoring after only five minutes when Ross County loanee Gregor Macdonald forced a diving save out of Paul Leask, with Michael Selfridge pouncing to slam home the loose ball for his 4th goal of the season.

Keith goalie Greg Simpson, who ended up being the recipient of the sponsors Man of the Match Award pulled off several fine saves to maintain the lead until the 33rd minute when 'Broch levelled through Andrew Hannar.  Four minutes from the break the deadly Scott Barbour made no mistake from close range to give his side a half time lead.

Simpson denied Ross Willox with a fine point blank save just after the break, but he could nothing to prevent 'Broch from scoring again with 51 minutes on the clock. A neat Barbour touch set up Owen Cairns who netted with an angled shot.

The Keith goalie came to the rescue once or twice after that as his team-mates battled bravely against a slick 'Bellslea outfit.

KEITH - Simpson, Grant, Smith, Thomson, Robertson (Yeats 60), Scott, Bolton (Keith 67), Macdonald (Berton 67), Selfridge, Brownie, Selfridge.  sub unused - Dey.
