Keith 0 v Inverurie Loco Works 3
MAROONS EARLY CUP EXIT
Keith made an early Aberdeenshire Cup exit in midweek, falling at the first hurdle at home to Inverurie Loco Works. For the second successive match the Maroons drew a blank, never looking like scoring.
Locos broke the deadlock in the 25th minute, Andy Hunter easily sliding the ball home from six yards, although Neil Gauld looked suspiciously offside as he whipped the cross over from the right wing.
Six minutes after the break, veteran centre half Eric Watson nipped in to prod home from eight yards to double the score-line. There was a wee glimmer for the Maroons on the hour mark, but Craig Macaskill's well hit low drive cracked back off the foot of the post.
David Dey pulled off a superb flying save in the 79th minute to keep out Souter's 25 yard thunderbolt. However, he was picking the ball out the net again seven minutes later, when the home defence got in a fankle and Gauld nipped in to slot home despite a desperate effort by Adam Clark to keep the ball out of the empty net.
KEITH - Dey, Young, Robertson (Smith 53), McAllister, Clark, Thomson, Macaskill, Begg (Gray 65), Keith, Brownie (yeats 65), Berton. Subs unused - Lennox, Simpson.
