Keith 1 v Brora Rangers 7

MAROONS REELING FROM SECOND HALF BLITZ

For 45 minutes the Maroons went toe to toe with the reigning champions, but then a second half inferno left them gasping as Brora stormed to their biggest ever league win at Kynoch Park. Strange as it may seem, there were several plus points from the heavy defeat. Lofty defender Nizam Adbulkarim, signed in midweek from Aberdeen University, showed enough on his debut that he will be a useful acquisition. James Brownie lasted 75 minutes before being replaced, and his midfield influence has been sorely missed, whilst 17 year old local lad Finlay Milton got to show his paces for the final few minutes.

The Maroons found themselves trailing inside two minutes when Colin Williamson headed home from six yards. They battled back bravely and were holding their own until midway through the half when indecision allowed Jordan MacRae to slam home from 8 yards.

Ten minutes later, Craig Ewen’s side was firmly back in the frame when a perfectly flighted Michael Selfridge free kick was brilliantly headed home by Przemyslaw Nawrocki for his 9th goal of the season.

Sadly, instead of making a fist of it, the second half turned into a barrage of goals conceded. A great rifled shot from Dale Gillespie extended the lead, before Matthew Wright nabbed the first of a hat-trick. MacRae then whipped the ball into the empty net after a Wright shot hit the foot of the post.

Midway through the half Wright slid in at the back post to slip the ball over the line, then Wright made it a magnificent seven for the visitors with three minutes remaining.
