Keith 3 v Turriff Utd 0

MAROONS END LOSING STREAK IN STYLE

Keith ended their three game losing streak in tremendous fashion, defeating visitors Turriff with relative ease. The Maroons made it four clean sheets in ten league outings as they romped to a three goal victory. They also unveiled the fact pre-match that five current players extended their contracts, and young Nathan McKeown had signed his first senior contract.

It was a real who’s who of ex Maroons in the visiting camp with manager Dean Donaldson in charge of Turra, heading up a list of no fewer than eight personnel having Keith FC connections.

The Maroons had Formartine loanee Liam Strachan back in the fold and trialist Tom Findlay also in the starting line up. With 16 minutes gone, the homesters got their noses in front through ex-Turriff winger Michael Ironside who raced through to curl home his first goal for the Club.

The Maroons had a let off five minutes later following a real goal-line stramash, but they finally cleared the danger.  Then, Craig Reid came to the rescue in the 26th minute, racing out to thwart Jordan Cooper’s attempt to level matters.

Ten minutes into the second half Reid pulled off a terrific point blank stop, and a minute later they increased their lead when skipper Michael Selfridge raced clean through to slam home a low drive for his 3rd goal of the season.

The Maroons were in full flow after that and threatened to over-run Turra, pushing forward at every opportunity. The points were well and truly sewn up with 66 minutes on the clock when Polish hit man Przemyslaw Nawrocki brilliantly evaded a defender and goalie David Dey to slam home his 7th goal of the season. He had come on as a substitute only five minutes earlier and proved too hot to handle for the visiting rearguard.

An all round top team display with Strachan showing the makings of being a top class loanee in the middle of the park, and Dem Yunus looking very assured in defence.

KEITH – Reid, Thomas, Emmett, Yeats (Gray 76), R Robertson, Yunus, Ironside (Stewart 78), Andrews, Selfridge, Findlay, (Nawrocki 61), Strachan.  Subs unused – McKeown, McCredie, Irvine.

Referee – Mr G Seago
