Keith FC 2 v Deveronvale 4

MAROONS LOSING STREAK CONTINUES

Keith made it five successive home league defeats in midweek with visitors Deveronvale completing the league double into the bargain, including their first away win since last September. The Maroons made heavy weather of proceedings in the early stages, losing a goal inside a minute and a half, Matthew Jamieson pouncing to slam home from 8 yards.

Then, on the quarter hour mark the perfect opportunity was scorned when Michael Ironside was toppled inside the penalty area, but the wee winger, electing to take the spot kick himself, taming hit goalwards allowing ‘Vale custodian Sean McIntosh to dive and easily save.

A coststly miss, because six minutes later, Dane Ballard, in a suspiciously looking offside position, raced through to easily slot past Demus. However the Maroons hauled themselves back into the frame with 32 minutes played, a Michael Selfridge left wing cross being neatly home by Przemyslaw Nawrocki for his 10thgoal of the season. The Polish striker then saw his looping header land on the roof of the net five minutes from the break.

The Maroons were stung again  ten minutes into the second half when Max Stewart cracked a looping 20 yarder into the roof of the net. It was all over really with 77 minutes on the clock when Ballard hammered home a hooked drive from 12 yards. Credit to the homesters mind you, for within two minutes that man Nawrocki pounced to tap home from six yards.

Play wound down after that sadly, and instead of a grandstand finish the remaining minutes saw the game peter out.
