Keith 0 v Inverurie Loco Works 3

MAROONS DE-RAILED BY LOCOS

Keith fell to a fourth straight league defeat when Inverurie Loco Works were visitors to a sun drenched Kynoch Park on Saturday. The Maroons were well and truly “de-railed “ by the “Railwaymen”, knocking Craig Ewen’s men well and truly “off track” as they looked for a confidence booster before their forthcoming Scottish Cup tie against Camelon.

The absence of key, experienced, personnel is now beginning to tell in all areas of the park, and to be perfectly honest, high flying Locos, now third in the table, more than deserved the win with Keith Legend Dean Donaldson masterminding proceedings from the Dug Out.

With Matty Tough making his 100th competitive appearance for Keith, maybe the Gods would smile on us, but with only seven minutes on the sun dial, the Maroons were chasing the game when a Cole Anderson pass was cleverly back heeled into the net by Aidan Wilson.

To be fair, the homesters did hit back and following the first corner of the game Grant Moroney’s diving header to the back post was cleared. Then, midway through the half, following another corner, Ronan Craib’s well struck drive was deflected over for what turned out to be another fruitless corner.

Locos then took an iron grip on the game with 33 minutes played when a quick fire move ended with Jay Halliday sweeping home from 8 yards. Although Keith had their share of play, Locos showed the killer touch.

If home fans were hoping for as econd half revival, they were sadly disappointed, and in the 70th minute the points were well and truly heading back along the A96 to Harlaw Park, when Scott Barron fouled dangerman Wilson inside the box. The resultant spot kick from Wilson saw Craig Reid get his hands to the ball, but there was enough power in the shot to carry it into the back of the net.

Credit to Keith, they didn’t capitulate, battling gamely on, but in the dying minutes their afternoon was perhaps summed up when Horace Ormsby saw his shot hit the foot of the post and fly back out into play.
