Keith 7 v Strathspey Thistle 1
CAMMY SHOOTS DOWN STRATHSPEY
Keith gunned down visitors Strathspey with a magnificent seven as skipper Cammy Keith led the way with his fifth quartet goal haul for the Maroons to end their seven game winless streak in devastating fashion. The seven goal blitz, four of them coming in a first half flurry, left Jags gasping as Dean Donaldson's men grabbed their first win since early September. The rout also marked Keith's record score against the Grantown men since they entered the League.
It took the Club's record goalscorer three minutes to get on the scoresheet, slamming home a spot kick after wee Craig Macaskill had been toppled inside the box. He doubled the score-line 22 minutes later when he netted from inside the box. It was tatties ower the side for the visitors when Jamie McAllister netted with a spectacular overhead kick from the edge of the box. The first half superiority was re-inforced when Macaskill slotted home.
The Maroons kept the upper hand after the break and Cammy Keith notched his hat-trick within a couple of minutes of the restart, gleefully sliding the ball into the back of the net from 10 yards. Four minutes later Ross County loanee Gregor Macdonald got off the mark with a left wing rocket that flew into the far top corner.
It was a superb seven just after the hour mark when a Scott Gray shot was blocked and the ebullient Cammy Keith showed he still has the killer instinct when he pounced to rifle home his 10th goal of the season. Poor Scotty did everything all afternoon but get on the score-sheet!
The rampant Maroons took the foot off the pedal after that, and a rare lapse with four minutes remaining allowed visiting substitute Liam Taylor to run through and slip the ball beyond Greg Simpson.
After a tough run of games against teams above them in the league, this was a strong team performance that saw Deano's side move up into 9th spot in the table.
