Keith 2 v Wick Academy 0
KEITH TRIM WICK FOR FIRST WIN
Late penalties at the end of each half had Keith fans celebrating their first win of the season, giving new boss Craig Ewen his first victory into the bargain. Wednesday night’s hard fought encounter against visitors Wick also stretched the Maroons’unbeaten record to three matches.
An end to end first half looked like ending goal-less until a minute before the break when Polish striker Przemyslaw Nawrocki was upended by Andrew Hardwick and “Shamack” sent the goalie the wrong way with the spot kick for his 4th goal of the season.
Craig Reid pulled off a couple of fine saves to keep his side’s nose in front as play kept swinging from end to end. The win was sealed with seven minutes remaining when a hand ball on the goalline gave the Maroons a second spot kick of the night, and skipper Michael Selfridge duly sent the ‘keeper the wrong way to slam home his first goal of the season.
A stramash at the enclosure side of the pitch ensued shortly afterwards, with the referee flashing his yellow card at several players. He also gave Ross Allan a second yellow card, consigning The Scorries to 10 men for the last few minutes.
KEITH – Reid, Hutcheon, Emmett, Grant, R Robertson, Yunus, Ironside (McKeown 90), Andrews, Stewart (Thomas 54), Nawrocki (McCredie 89), Selfridge. Subs unused – Aitchison.
Referee – Mr L Duncan
