Brechin City 5 v Keith 0
TEN MAN MAROONS UP AGAINST AT AT BRECHIN
This was always going to be a tough ask for Keith at high flying Brechin City, and so it proved, despite a spirited display. The Maroons’ cause was severely hit having Lewis Coull red carded with half an hour still to play.
Yet, Craig Ewen’s men twice went close in the opening stages, Kieran Mooney being crowded out, then James Brownie sending a diving header inches past the post. The League Leaders opened the scoring in the 19th minute when Anthony McDonald found the back of the net direct from a corner kick.
Young Kyle Irvine pulled off several fine saves after that, but then the plucky visitors were caught out two minutes from half time, a pinpoint left wing cross from Marc Scott finding the unmarked Grady McGrath at the back post, and he had the simple task of nodding home.
It was game over with 57 minutes played, Coull upending Scott inside the box, earning himself a yellow card and a spot kick to Brechin which Kieran Inglis duly hammered straight down the middle of the goals.
Coull was then shown a second yellow card on the hour mark, and a minute later Brechin debutant Botti Biabi, on the pitch only three minutes earlier as a substitute, nipped in to clip the ball home from close range.
The nap hand was complete with 77 minutes on the clock, Irvine failing to hold the ball following a corner, and McGrath reacted quickly to drive the loose ball into the roof of the net from 12 yards.
KEITH – Irvine, Thomas, Grant, Abdulkarim, Robertson, Hutcheon (Yeats 64), Coull, Brownie, Mooney (Tough 76), Yunus, Ironside (Andrews 64). Subs unused – McKeown, Killoh, Wilson, Duncan.
