Keith FC 3 v Fort William 1

MAROONS QUICK FIRE DOUBLE OVER FORT

This game maybe only had one goal in the first half, but boy, the spectators got more than their monies worth in the second forty five – three goals, two penalties, one of them saved, and two red cards to boot, as the mighty Maroons stretched their unbeaten record to four, three wins and a draw, hoisting themselves up into 10th spot in the league table.

James Brownie made his 150th appearance for Keith, whilst key defenders Rhys Thomas and big Niz Abdulkarim were both missing due to injury, in what was the last home game of the season.

Despite a string of Keith corners in the first half it took until two minutes from the break before Przemyslaw Nawrocki pounced to slam home his 14th goal of the season. Fort came back into the match after the turnaround and dangerman Yves Zama squared matters with 62 minutes on the clock to jolt the homesters back into action.

The turning point came eight minutes later when Matty Tough, only on the pitch for a minute, was upended by Diste Cameara Sylla inside the penalty area. That earned the Fort defender an early bath and a spot kick for the homesters which skipper Michael Selfridge duly rapped home for his 7th goal of the season.

With the Maroons firmly in the ascendancy the latter stages had Fort on the back foot, and we had a madcap final five minutes. Fort goalie Mateusz Kulbacki toppled Nawrocki inside the penalty box, but redeemed himself by pulling off a fine save to keep out the striker’s spot kick. Then, Selfridge sealed the double over the visitors, by blasting a shot into the roof of the net from 10 yards for his 8th goal of the season. To finish Fort’s day of misery Diakite Diallo was red carded for a wild challenge on Kieran Yeats.
